Last Week of Term 1

We would just like to wish you all a lovely, restful half term.

During the last few weeks, we were have been busy writing stories about Will Thatcher a young Tudor boy who joined the explorer, Sir Francis Drake, on his circumnavigation of the world.

We found out what life was like for a Tudor monk or nun. We were horrified to discover that they ate only one meal a day and that was soggy porridge. We then learnt that Henry was responsible for dissolving the monasteries in 1536 leaving many monks and nuns homeless and destitute.

We also found out what happened to Henry V111’s flagship the Mary Rose. We discovered that it sank when Henry was watching it set sail to attack the French in 1545. Sadly, many people lost their lives, and we were all amazed that even a dog was found on board when the ship was discovered by divers in the nineteen seventies.
