Maths with a (delicious) twist

This week in maths, we gathered data using skittles. Everyone’s data was different and we needed to think for ourselves in order to interpret the data we had in our packets. First we looked at odd and even numbers and needed to decide if our packet had an odd number of skittles or an even number of skittles in. We discussed which colours we had in our packets and used mathmatical language such as fewest, least, altogether and most to explain how many of each colour we had.

We followed this up by recording our data in a frequency table, a Carroll diagram and a bar chart. We even got to eat ‘our data’ after the lessons!
