Term 1, Week 3

This week, the children have continued to work hard and show great enthusiasm across all subjects. In history, they explored how historians learn about the past by discussing fascinating artifacts discovered at Sutton Hoo. Science lessons focused on insects, with children learning the difference between social insects like bees and termites, and solitary ones such as grasshoppers and praying mantises. In PE, Sputnik Class had their first swimming lesson, while Voyager and Chandra Classes worked on their footwork skills as well as enjoying their first hocky lesson. In English, our study of Beowulf has sparked lots of excitement, with children acting out scenes and taking part in ‘hot seating’ activities to ask questions to Beowulf himself! The children also enjoyed creating their Harry Potter inspired scarecrow ready for the Uphill Scarecrow Festival!
