Term 1 – Week 6

This week in year 3/4 we all continue to work hard with our learning. Here are just a few of the things that we’ve done…

Maths

We have been learning about multiples of 100 – adding and subtracting 100. Using part-whole models and bar models, as well as using pictorial representations using place value counters and base 10 has really helped us with this.

Project – being a historian

We researched who ruled Britain at the time of the Viking invasion. King Alfred the Great was ruler of Wessex from 871AD until his death in 891AD.  He was forced to flee his kingdom when the Vikings invaded. After the death of King Alfred the Great, his son Edward the Elder took the throne. When Edward died, his son Athelstan (King Alfred’s grandson) became king. Athelstan is regarded as the first king of all Britain and he is remembered as a great leader. We debated who we thought was the best leader.
