Term 3 – Week 1
Welcome to Term 3!
We hope you’ve had a lovely Christmas holiday and would like to wish you all a very happy new year! This term we will be learning about our place in Europe as part of our enquiry and as part of this we are planning a year 3/4 trip in Term 4 – please look our for an email with more details about this over the coming weeks.
As geographers we recapped our knowledge about regions and learnt about the 9 counties in England and specifically our region ‘South West’. We enjoyed signing along to the region and county song. We learned that Uphill is located in North Somerset which is one of the counties in the South West region.
We also took out learning one step further and learnt more about our region. We looked at maps and facts files to find out where we are, what cities are closest, what landmarks we have and which counties border ours.
In English we are starting to learn about a new book, Edward Tulane. This week we are predicting what might happen in the story and how we can describe our main character Edward Tulane.
As citizens we read a story called Red: a crayon’s story. We read the book to find out there was a blue crayon labelled red and all the other crayons thought he wasn’t very good at his job. We gave him advice on how to feel better and be more successful and proud of who they are.
In PE we practiced different movements on a line and used our awareness to make sure we were successful. In our learning partners we had to move across the hall in a ‘3 legged race’. We had to problem solve with our partner and change our performance to make sure we were successful.
In science we are learning all about our bodies and skeleton this term. This week we learnt about our skeleton and different joints.
