Term 3 Week 3

This week has been full of creativity, curiosity and hands-on learning across the curriculum.

In English, the children worked hard as writers, completing a diary entry written in the role of Edward Tulane. They revisited key moments from the story and reflected on some of the dramas Edward experiences, using rich descriptive language to express his thoughts and emotions. The children showed great empathy and imagination, producing thoughtful and engaging pieces of writing.

As geographers, we explored maps to locate the counties of England and learned how to describe their position using the points of the compass. This helped to strengthen their geographical vocabulary and understanding of where places are in relation to one another.

As artists, we investigated press printing and studied the work of artist Adrienne Craddock. The children explored how patterns and repeated designs can be created through printing techniques before designing and producing their own original prints. The results were bold, creative and unique, with everyone enjoying experimenting with this new process.

In addition to our classroom learning, we took part in the Great Garden Birdwatch. The children walked around the school grounds using binoculars to observe, identify and record the many birds we were lucky enough to see. It was a truly memorable experience!
