Term 4 Week 1

We’ve had a fantastic first week back after the half‑term break, full of energy, enthusiasm, and great learning across the curriculum!

As writers, we reflected on the most recent events in our class book *The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane*. We explored what makes Abilene and Bull such thoughtful owners and held a lively debate about who Edward should return to if he had the choice. Pupils practiced using formal debate language, including phrases such as “In my opinion…”, “While … makes a good point, I would argue…”, “I respectfully disagree because…”, and “Building on …’s point, I would add…”. This experience will support us next week when we begin planning persuasive letters to Edward.

As scientists, we began our new topic on cells—discovering what they are and how they form tissues, organs, and organ systems. The children showed huge curiosity and asked excellent questions throughout the lessons.

As computer scientists, we explored branching databases and how they help organise information efficiently. We discussed the attributes that distinguish different objects and how we could separate them using yes / no questions.
