Term 4 – Week 1
Welcome back!
We hope you enjoyed a restful and relaxing half term break. We have another packed term of learning to look forward to. In Term 4 some dates to remind you about…
- World Book Day: Thursday 7th March
- Parents evening: Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th March
- Presentation of Learning Friday 22nd March
Year 3/4 are really lucky because we have got Somerset Cricket with us every Thursday this term. This week we focused on throwing and catching before moving onto more complex skills next week.
As writers we learnt all about similes and metaphors this week. To help us we listened to different songs and had to decide which were metaphors and which were similes before creating some of our own. We will use this knowledge when writing a setting description next week.
In PE this week we have grappled with a new skill; juggling! This will help us with some further ball skills as we move through our PE learning. We used balls and the walls of our hall to start us off.
As geographers we looked at what countries make up our continent of Europe. We used atlases and map work to locate these countries. We then identified different countries and their flags.
As citizens, we read the book, Aalfred and Aalbert. We discussed the idea that we all have more in common than divides us. We did an exercise to find people in our class who had things in common. We talked about making sure no one feels isolated and what we could do to help when people might be feeling lonely. We then designed posters on our learning.
