Term 4 Week 1
Welcome back!
What an exciting start to term 5!
Dates for diaries:
Tuesday 17th March – The Big Sing
Thursday 8th May – Trip to The Matthew
We are continuing with our Enquiry question ‘Why did the Europeans explore?’. This week we looked at the explorer Ferdinand Magellan and used our skills for map work and tracked his journey.
As scientists, we are starting a new topic about materials and their properties. We started thinking about our previous knowledge and what we would like to find out. We then sorted items based on their properties. We focused on solids, liquids and gas. In groups we demonstrated what the particles for solid, liquid and gas look like.
As writers, we have continued with our book ‘Varjak Paw’ and have read some more of the story in preparation for writing a dairy in role. We also learnt about adverbs for time and time conjunctions.
As mathematicians, we understood the link between multiplication and division then continued learning to divide.
As athletes, we have started to learn new skills with a new sport: Tennis! We have started the term recapping our throwing and catching skills and discussed the rules of tennis. We familiarised ourselves with the game and will be introducing rackets next week.
Thank you for bringing in your ‘story masks’ already. The competition judging will happen on world book day so you have until then to make and bring them in if you want to enter.
