Term 4 – Week 2
Another fantastic week!
Following on from safer internet day, we had a visit from Megan a cyber security officer for North Somerset. She spoke to us about what personal information is and how to be safe online.
As citizens we focused on learning about group dynamics and how to problem solve a situation with our friends. We discussed multiple scenarios with our partners then looked at one together as a group. We thought about how we could solve this problem and wrote it down.
In PE we continued learning our skill of juggling and extended our learning by sending and receiving a ball in different ways. Each week we will be building on these skills to become successful athletes.
We had Dom from Somerset county cricket back this week. We started our session by watching a video about different skills within cricket with examples from the support. We then put this into practice by working as a team to catch and throw with accurate aim.
Continuing our learning about our bodies, this week we learned more about our digestive system. We sorted and ordered the different parts of the digestive system.
As writers we wrote a setting description about the rubbish dump that Edward Tulane has ended up in. We used similes, metaphors and powerful adjectives to help describe it.
In our French lesson this week we learnt all about the weather and seasons. We sang songs, sorted cards and identified which weather type belongs in each season. We had a great discussion about English weather but chose the most common or typical weather type found.
As geographers we used atlases to help us identify countries in Europe and their capital cities.
As mathematicians, year 3 recapped our knowledge of unit fractions and furthered out learning by looking at non-unit fractions.
As readers this week, we explored the book, The Tunnel by Anthony Browne. The story tells the tale of a brother and sister who just don’t get along. However, when they take a journey through the tunnel they realise they need to look out for each other! We used our reading skills to retrieve, explain, summarise and unpick vocabulary.
