Term 4 Week 3

What a fantastic week it has been for our Year 3 and Year 4 learners!

As mathematicians, took part in the CLF Big Day of Maths, a brilliant opportunity to dive deeper into mathematical thinking through hands-on exploration and investigation.

In Year 3, pupils used spaghetti and clay to construct a range of 3D shapes. This practical activity helped them visualise faces, edges and vertices in a creative and memorable way. The classroom buzzed with excitement as children experimented with different structures and discussed what makes each shape unique.

In Year 4, learners explored the digital roots within times tables. They made predictions, spotted patterns and drew thoughtful conclusions as they compared the digital routes and drew the pattern they created on a template. We were very surprised by the similarities in some times tables.

Meanwhile, as writers, the children showed great passion and persuasive flair. Inspired by The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, they crafted compelling arguments to persuade Edward to return either to Abilene or Bull. Their writing was filled with emotive language, strong reasoning and great conviction.

It has certainly been a busy and exciting week, and it’s hard to believe we are already halfway through the term! We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm and effort shown by all the children.
