Term 5 – Week 1
Welcome back!
We have loved seeing all of the children this week and hearing about their Easter breaks.
As citizens we read a book called ‘When sadness comes to call’. We learnt about what mental health is and how we can look after ourselves. We understood that feelings like sadness are welcome but it’s how we deal with it. Our task was to create a poster showing all of this learning.
In our maths lessons we have been learning all about money. We enjoyed recapping our previous knowledge and extended it further using coins to help us. We converted pounds and pence into pence and vice versa and ordered amounts in ascending and descending order.
As writers we are starting a new book this term called ‘This morning I met a whale’. This week we started reading the book and enjoyed predicting what might come next. We used dictionaries to help understand some new vocabulary and created a mind map of feelings about Grandfather’s journey.
This term we are starting a new geography enquiry called UK vs Spain. We will be comparing the two countries together and thinking about their environment, culture and show they are similar or different.
We started off by asking questions and then used maps to locate countries which are part of the Mediterranean.
As linguists we recapped our knowledge of numbers in French up to 30 and extended our learning to 50. We used this to do a colour by number picture.
As athletes we managed to find a gap in the rain to start learning about rounders. We understood what it was to be a batter and a fielder and practiced these skills in an adapted game. We look forward to increasing our skills and completing a full game of rounders.
