Term 5 Week 2
What an amazing week with even better weather!
On Monday, our year 4 children had the opportunity to take part in a bike ability programme. It was great to see the confidence the children had on their bikes and what they learnt from their session.
On Friday, year 3/4 were visited by Rich and Mark from NSPEEA so that they could have a fun session learning how to play disk golf.
As writers this week, we have researched deforestation and a variety of threats to the amazon rainforest. We had a debate about weather cutting trees down were bad all of the time or if there was sometimes a need for it. It was great to hear all of the children’s ideas.
After our debate we looked at the features of a persuasive letter in preparation for writing our own letters next week to the character in our text ‘The Great Kapok Tree’. We will use our persuasive skills to convince him not to chop the tree down.
As athletes, we have continued our learning with tennis and have focused on a variety of ball skills. All of these skills are helping to improve our hand – eye coordination as well as our team work skills.
As scientists, we have discovered what plants need to grow this week. We are growing cress seeds in our classes and observing them every day, one pot of cress seeds are in direct sunlight, another indirect sunlight and finally one in complete darkness. We are excited to see if our predictions are correct.
As citizens, we looked at roles and responsibility within our community and at home. We discussed stereotypes and how some roles are seen as a male role or a female role but understood that it didn’t matter who did what.
