Term 5 – Week 3
It’s been another busy week in year 3/4.
In English, we have been learning a new story, Sophie’s Quest, in preparation for our own quest story. The children have created story maps and ‘hot seated’ the main character, Sophie the spider monkey, to explore and understand her feelings and emotions as she sets out to seek help to stop the destruction of the rainforest.
In maths we have started a new topic – Time – and have been learning how to convert analogue to digital and vice versa.
The children have continued to learn about plants in science and been looking at the transportation of water through a plant. We conducted an experiment in which a piece of celery was placed in red coloured water and observed that the leaves eventually began to turn red as the water was absorbed and transported up through the stem and to the leaves.
In P.E we have been learning about the fundamentals of tennis – our stance, movement, position in the court and where to place the ball to order to beat an opponent.
Outside of class the year 4’s have enjoyed learning the practical skills of looking after and safety checking a bike, as well as how to cycle safely with Bikibility.
We hope you have a fantastic bank holiday weekend and look forward to welcoming the children back on Tuesday!
