Term 6 Week 3

It has been another fantastic week in Year 3/4, with the children showing great enthusiasm, determination and a positive attitude towards their learning across all subjects.

As writers, the children completed their newspaper articles based on the picture book Flotsam by David Wiesner. They worked hard to apply their writing skills, creating engaging and informative reports with detailed explanations of the mysterious discoveries from the story. We were very impressed by their creativity and effort, and the finished articles demonstrated excellent use of language and structure.

As mathematicians, we began our new topic of time. The children explored the relationships between years, months, weeks and days, developing their understanding of how units of time are connected. They approached the challenges with confidence and curiosity.

As scientists, our learning about electrical circuits continued. The class investigated how circuits work, learned to recognise and use the correct scientific symbols, and developed their practical skills by building a variety of circuits. The children particularly enjoyed incorporating switches and buzzers into their designs and exploring how different components affect a circuit’s function.

As artists, we have been preparing for Art Week. Inspired by the work of local artist Jenny Urquhart, the children created collages and paintings celebrating the features of our local area. They carefully selected colours, textures, and materials to represent landmarks and landscapes, producing some thoughtful and imaginative pieces of artwork.

Well done to all of Year 3/4 for their hard work and enthusiasm this week. We are incredibly proud of all they have achieved and look forward to another exciting week of learning ahead!
