Week beginning 13th March

Year 3/4 have been working hard again this week…

In art we have been looking at the artist Paul Klee. We discovered that he was influenced by balance, music and colour. We looked at several pieces of his art work. We talked about what we could see in the paintings and then used water colours to reproduce them.

In English we have been focussing on narrative writing, using our class book Varjak Paw for inspiration. Our stories are based on part of the story where Varjak ends up meeting two new cats, Holly and Tam. They set off on an adventure in the city which is a far more daunting place than Varjak could ever have imagined…

In science, we have been completing a science experiment on evaporation. We carried out an investigation in order to observe and understand how some materials can change state. We placed some ice cubes on some cling film stretched over a container of warm water. We then carefully observed what happened. We saw condensation on the underside of the cling film and realised that the process of evaporation was occurring.

It was Voyagers turn at using the saws and glue guns this week as part of our ongoing work in DT. The children have made some fantastic frames to demonstrate their skills.
