Week beginning 17th May
On Friday 14th May, the whole school took part in The Big Run/ Walk. Year 3 and 4 had great fun running, walking and skipping around the track.
All the classes continue to be involved with the Active Minutes Challenge. Each day we spent some time being active. This may include running around the track, Wake and Shake, Just Dance, yoga and Joe Wicks 5 minute work outs. It’s a great way to start the day leaving us feeling energized and full of beans.
In project and English, we have been researching facts about animals that live in the rainforests of Central and South America. We then presented our findings to our friends. We discovered some amazing facts. Did you know, that sloths are much faster in water than on land, jaguars are the third largest big cat in the world and toucans aren’t that great at flying? Sadly, we also found out that many of these animals are endangered because of deforestation, pollution and farming.
We have been building up to writing a persuasive letter, based on the book we are reading ‘ The Great Kapok Tree’. So, we looked at some examples of letters today and used a rubric to decide if they were ‘great’ or ‘excellent’ letters. We’ll use these skills when we write our own next week!
In maths we have been working on subtracting fractions. We have been drawing our problems to help us solve them…
