Week beginning 20th February
Welcome back after the half term holiday – we hope you managed to have a restful and relaxing break!
Our theme in PSHE this term is, ‘Healthy Me’. We played a game called Jigsaw Jaz says to help us think about the effects of exercise on our body. We then thought about ways we can keep healthy and set ourselves a fitness challenge.
This week in year 3/4 we have been reading a new book as part of our English lessons, ‘Varjak Paw’. First we made and justified predictions about the story based on it’s front cover and the blurb on the back. Next we read chapter 1 and 2 and made freeze frames to help us understand the setting.
At the end of the week, we looked at speech punctuation and how we could use this to know when a character was speaking. Here we are reading a piece of the text to identify where each character was speaking by finding the inverted commas…
In maths, we are learning about fractions. Today we looked at ‘equivalent’ fractions. We know that the word equivalent means the same as or equal to.
Finally, next week is World Book Day. As part of this, we have been running a competition to design a ‘Story in a Jar’. We are really pleased with how many of you have gone to such a huge effort with these and are extending the deadline for submission to Monday for those who need some extra time! Good luck with your entries year 3/4!
