Week beginning 20th March
This week year 3/4 went on their trip to Bristol to visit, ‘The Matthew’. It was a great day for all three classes and it helped us to imagine what it would have been like to be an explorer from the ‘Age of Exploration.’ We learned about John Cabot and how he and his crew would have navigated across the Atlantic in search of China and the silks and spices they thought they’d find there. Instead, they discovered Newfoundland because at the time they didn’t know as much about the countries that make up the world and maps didn’t yet include America! The Matthew was believed to have been named after John Cabot’s wife, Mattea.
