Term 2- Week 1
Week one
We have enjoyed learning about 2 festivals this week! We learned about Diwali and bonfire night. We created our own edible sparklers, firework art and also enjoyed creating Rangoli patterns.
This week in phonics Year 1 have started learning phase 5 sounds. We have learned phonemes ay (tray) ou (cloud) ea (seat ie (pie).
This week EYFS have learnt new sounds: l (lollypop) ll (ring bell) ss (grass).
As mathematicians EYFS have been focusing on more and less than when comparing 2 sets.
Year 1 have been applying their addition knowledge to solving word problems.
This term we are being Historians and finding out about chronology and how things have changed over time. The question we are asking is “Which technology invention is the most significant?” We were very lucky to have grandparents visit us and share what technology was like when they were younger. We saw some amazing old technology!
We then went on a technology hunt around school to see what technology we have now.
We’ve enjoyed some other Autumnal activities, such as pumpkin hammering, and we’ve spent lots of time outside before it starts turning to Winter!
