Term 2

This term has been packed with exciting PE activities, both in and out of school! Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to:

FA Equal Access Award
We are thrilled to announce that our school has received an award from the FA for promoting equal access in girls’ football! This is a huge achievement and reflects our commitment to inclusivity and providing opportunities for all pupils to enjoy sport.

Year 1 & 2 Multi-Skills Festival at Hutton Moor
We had a fantastic time trying out a range of fun activities, including kurling, bowling, and speed stacking. These activities helped them develop coordination, teamwork, and confidence in a supportive environment. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm and determination throughout the day. They loved coming back to school with a gold medal!

Year 5 Football Tournament at Weston College
Year 5 represented the school brilliantly at the 7 a side football tournament this term. Their teamwork and sportsmanship were outstanding, and they showed great resilience in every match. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to experience competitive sport in a positive way.

Bikeability Training
Both Year 4 and Year 6 successfully completed their Bikeability courses, learning essential cycling skills and road safety awareness. These sessions are so important for building independence and confidence when cycling outside of school.

Whole School Wake and Shake
We all came together for a fun-filled Wake and Shake session to raise money for the PTFA Christmas Fete- thank you for all your chocolate donations! The playground was full of energy as pupils and staff joined in with some Christmassy dancing.

PE Lessons This Term

EYFS & Year 1 have been exploring seated balance through imaginative jungle adventures. These sessions have focused on developing core strength and stability, whilst moving like different jungle animals!

Year 2 have loved their gymnastics lessons, especially using the apparatus. They’ve been learning how to travel in different ways, climb safely, and create simple sequences. These sessions have encouraged creativity and problem-solving, as the children work out how to move across equipment while maintaining control and balance.

Year 3 & 4 have been enjoying football this term, learning how to pass accurately, move with control and work together as a team. Indoors, they’ve continued with their RealPE programme, focusing on the use of ball skills to complement their outdoor learning of football.

Year 5 & 6 have been developing their skills in netball alongside their RealPE indoor lessons. They have been focusing on passing, footwork, and teamwork.
