Term 4
Term 4 has been an exciting few weeks for PE at UVA. We have been very busy taking part in a variety of physical activity and events!
North Somerset Dance Festival
Our dance club had the incredible opportunity to participate in the North Somerset Dance Festival held at the Playhouse Theatre. The event is always fantastic with lots of North Somerset schools coming together and our UVA dancers performed incredibly. Their hard work and dedication were evident in every move and, most importantly, they had a blast!
Rugby Event at Bristol Bears Training Ground
We were able to take 20 children to the Bristol Bears graining ground for a rugby event. They were trained by professional coaches and got to meet some of the players. The children learned new skills, practiced teamwork, and experienced the thrill of playing on a professional training ground!
International Women’s day
To celebrate international women’s day, we took part in ‘The Biggest football session EVER’, which invites as many girls as possible across the country to play football on that day. We had Mark come in again to deliver these sessions and the girls loved every minute.
Girls Football Tournament at Hans Price School
A real highlight of the term was the girls’ football tournament at Hans Price School, where we took two teams (Years 2/3 and Years 4/5! The girls played with determination and skill, showcasing their teamwork and listening well to their coaches. Their hard work meant one team came away with gold and the other with silver!
EYFS and Year 1 Physical Literacy Morning
EYFS and Year 1 enjoyed some coaches from North Somerset PE to deliver a physical literacy session. The activities were designed to develop their fundamental movement skills, coordination, and confidence. It was heart warming to see the joy and enthusiasm as they participated in various fun and engaging activities.
PE Lessons
EYFS and Year 1 have enjoyed doing dance this term! We started by making different shapes with our bodies and then gradually created routines, adding spins and other transitional movements.
Year 2 have been practising their hand ball skills and counter balances this term. They have been developing their ball skills through focused skill development sessions and fun competitive games.
Year 3/4 have enjoyed doing tennis in their outdoor PE lessons. They have learned a variety of skills using rackets and applied them in the games.
KS2 have been enjoying gym in their indoor lessons this term. They have been learning and developing these skills and then applying them through travel and rotation on the floor.
We are looking forward to another busy next term, with hopefully some warmth and sun!
