Term 4
Term 4 has been an exciting few weeks for PE at UVA. We have been very busy taking part in a variety of physical activity and events!
North Somerset Dance Festival
Our Year 2/3 dance club had the incredible opportunity to participate in the North Somerset Dance Festival held at the Playhouse Theatre. The event is always fantastic with lots of North Somerset schools coming together and our UVA dancers performed incredibly. Their hard work and dedication were evident in every move and, most importantly, they had so much fun!
International Women’s day
To celebrate international women’s day, we took part in the Her Game Too ‘design a kit competition’. We had lots of children design a football kit that had to represent equality in football. The children enjoyed creating their design and lots of children from UVA won tickets to watch a dedicated Her Game Too match at Weston FC.
North Somerset PE also ran a ‘Play Hers’ football event for girls to give football a try. The children took part in different activities and drills and had a wonderful time!
EYFS and Year 1 Physical Literacy Morning
EYFS and Year 1 enjoyed some coaches from North Somerset PE to deliver a physical literacy session. The activities were designed to develop their fundamental movement skills, coordination, and confidence. It was heart warming to see the joy and enthusiasm as they participated in various fun and engaging activities.
Term 4 PE lessons
EYFS/Year 1 have been enjoying gym this term in their ‘Real PE’ lessons inside! They have been learning the gymnastics shapes and practising them on different levels. Outside they have been developing their hand ball skills.
Year 2 have been developing their ball control in their PE lessons this term. Outside, they have been practising their throwing and catching with large balls.
Year 3/4 have been doing hockey in PE this term. They have learned lots of skills with hockey sticks as well passing and different ways of moving the ball. Chandra class have enjoyed their swimming lessons and have been fantastic!
Year 5/6 this term have been enjoying tennis in their outdoor PE lessons! They have learned a variety of racket skills and applied them in games.
