Term 5
PE Term 5
Term 5 has been a lovely one for PE. From young leaders to outdoor learning, it has been fantastic to see so much enthusiasm and enjoyment for physical activity.
Whole School Orienteering Day
One of the highlights of the term was our whole school orienteering day on Thursday. We worked in groups to locate checkpoints and solve challenges around the field. The day encouraged teamwork, problem-solving and communication and lots of activity! It was wonderful to see children supporting one another and celebrating success together in the sunshine.

Year 6 Young Leaders
Our Year 6 Young Leaders have done an incredible job this term, running a series of inclusive competitions for Key Stage 1. They also worked closely with Year 5, acting as mentors and role models to teach them some different activities that they could run.

Year 4/5 Cricket Club
Our Year 4/5 Cricket Club has been a great success this term, with children developing their batting, bowling and fielding skills. The children showed fantastic teamwork, enthusiasm and sportsmanship, growing in confidence each week as they learned new techniques and applied them in small games!

Year 5/6 Athletics Club
The Year 5/6 Athletics Club has been a great opportunity to explore a range of events including sprinting, throwing and relay. The children worked hard to improve their personal performances while encouraging and supporting one another.
Year 3/4 Tag Rugby Club
In Year 3/4 Tag Rugby Club we learned the basic skills of passing, evading defenders and working as a team. We quickly developed an understanding of the game and had lots of fun!
PE lessons
In our ‘RealPE’ sessions this term, we have been focusing on our ‘physical’ cog, thinking about control and consistency as this progresses through the school.

EYFS / Year 1
EYFS and Year 1 have been focusing on Games for Understanding in their outdoor PE lessons, learning how to play simple games while developing key movement skills. Sessions have centred around sharing equipment, following rules, working as a team and understanding how games work — all while having lots of fun.

Year 2
Year 2 have also been completing Games for Understanding activities, building on their teamwork and decision-making. The Year 2s explored attacking and defending roles, learnt how to adapt games, and developed their confidence when playing cooperatively and competitively. In their RealPE sessions they’ve been doing dance! They have loved creating shapes and combining them to make a sequence.

Year 3 / Year 4
In Year 3 and 4, pupils have been busy developing their skills in rounders. They practised throwing, catching, batting and fielding, while also learning about positioning and simple tactics. The children showed great determination and teamwork, particularly when playing small-sided games.

Year 5 / Year 6
Year 5 and 6 enjoyed learning and improving their skills in tennis this term. Pupils developed their racket skills, control and accuracy, while learning the rules of the game and how to score. It was brilliant to see the progress made through rallies and competitive games, with pupils showing great sportsmanship throughout.
Overall, Term 5 has been full of positive energy, effort and enjoyment in PE. We are incredibly proud of the commitment shown by all pupils and are looking forward to more exciting activities in Term 6!
