Term 1 Week 1
Term 1 Week 1
We were delighted to welcome all of of Year 5/6 children back to school on Wednesday and the teachers have really enjoyed getting to know their new classes. The Year 5s have settled in really well and all three classes seem to have bonded remarkably quickly.
Since Wednesday, there has been a lot of routine setting and establishing expectations, but we have also started our new enquiry topic of ‘The Stone Age’ and our science topic about electricity – so it’s been a busy few days.
By next week we will make sure every child has a reading book and explain how homework is going to work this year.
We are looking forward to seeing Year 5 parents in the hall next Tuesday at 8:45 to run through details about the year group and answer any questions.
Meanwhile, here is a little of what we’ve been up to:
As scientist, we started exploring electrical circuits and using the universal symbols to draw accurate circuit diagrams.

As mathematicians, we discussed the skills needed to be a good mathematician and used some of these skills to complete investigations

As artists, we used our no outsiders book, ‘The Proudest Blue,’ to explore ideas of acceptance and used images in the book to create our own watercolours.
