Term 1 Week 4

Another great week of learning in Year 5/6!

As Scientists, we explored how plants reproduce. We carefully examined a flowering plant and identified its different parts, including the stem, leaves, petals, anther, filament, stigma, ovary and ovule. We also began an exciting investigation into plant cloning through cuttings. We cut a stem below a leaf node, removed the lower leaves and placed the cutting in water. We will be monitoring it closely over the coming weeks to see if it successfully develops roots.

As Explorers of Belief, we continued our learning about Sikhism by exploring some of the key principles that guide Sikh life, including honesty, sharing with others and serving the community. Through a range of scenarios and discussions, we considered the importance of self-sacrifice, kindness and putting the needs of others before our own.

As Athletes, we focused on developing our hand-eye coordination, balance and teamwork skills through a variety of activities, including bench ball. It was fantastic to see such determination, encouragement and sportsmanship on display throughout the week.
