Term 1 Week 5

Another great week of learning in Year 5/6!

As writers, we prepared for our exciting suspense narrative next week by creating thoughtful sentence starters, crafting descriptive noun phrases using ambitious vocabulary, and exploring how authors can “show, not tell” a character’s emotions at key moments in a story. We were impressed by the creativity and imagination on display.

As scientists, we continued our learning about plant reproduction, investigating the different ways seeds are dispersed. We explored how seeds can travel by wind, water, animals and even through bursting seed pods, helping plants spread and grow in new locations.

As mathematicians, we focused on developing fluency when multiplying fractions. We practised a range of calculations, strengthening our understanding of key methods and building confidence in applying them accurately.
