Term 4 Week 1

Welcome to Term 4!

The children have really benefitted from their break and have come back and settled into their learning well.

This week, we have started splitting Year 5 and 6 for English as well as maths. The Year 6 English groups are working well and the Year 6 have started to get into the routine of practicing spelling, punctuation & grammar and reading skills in each lesson. Lots of them have enjoyed the variation and have said, ‘Wow! That lesson went quickly.’

As athletes, we have started learning tennis and enjoyed some ball control drills in our first lesson. Over the coming weeks, we will learn the rules, practice some skills and work towards playing some mini matches.

As artists, we have started our new unit on painting, which began with some observational drawing of leaves.

As scientists, we began our unit ‘All About Matter’ and explored the differences between elements, compounds and mixtures. We started to look at the chemical formula for some common compounds, such as H2O and NaCl and CO2.
