Term 4 Week 3

Week 3

One of the highlights this week was the Year 5 trip to see ‘Shrek: the musical’ performed by pupils at Broadoak. Whilst the Year 5s were out enjoying Shrek, the Year 6 were able to play a big game of rounders between themselves and demonstrated some great determination, as well as good throwing and catching skills.

As geographers, we explored the features of an OS map and traced the course of the River Axe (which has its mouth next to Uphill beach).

The Year 6 house captains and vice captains did a great job introducing the children in their houses to the maths challenge that took place on Friday as part of ‘Maths Week’.  In their classes, the children completed times tables challenges and earned house points for completing them quickly.

As scientists, we enjoyed a bit of clay modelling.  We were creating either body fossils or trace fossils having learned about the process of fossilisation.

As mathematicians, we enjoyed the CLF Big Day of Maths on Friday.  We all took part in a times tables competition and then created either a Celtic knot or a Fibonacci spiral.
