Term 5 Week 4

Week 4

What a week!  The Year 6s are definitely happy to get this one behind them, but the Year 5/6 team and the leadership team have been really impressed by the attitude the children showed all the way through this week.  It was clear that everyone was trying their best and, on the whole, the papers seemed quite fair so we couldn’t have asked for more.

Now it’s time for Year 6 to prepare for Charterhouse over the weekend and for the Year 5s to enjoy a week of being the oldest year group in the school next week; a little taster of September.

As athletes this week, Pegasus and Orion classes enjoyed a rounders tournament on Thursday afternoon.  Each class was split into two teams and each half of Pegasus played half of Orion.  There were two highly competitive but thoroughly sporting matches and Orion took the honours in both.  Well done to all who took part in good spirit. The children’s rounders skills have improved hugely over the last two terms and they thoroughly enjoy the game.

As writers and readers, the Year 5 English groups took the stories they had written for younger readers to the Year 2 classes so they could share their work.  They really enjoyed having an audience for their writing and really understand the importance of writing to engage and entertain.
