Term One Week 1
Welcome back to a new academic year and what a wonderful first week we have enjoyed with our Y5 and Y6 children! It has been a pleasure getting to know our new three classes: Orion, Unicorn and Pegasus.
As mathematicians, we have been practising reading and writing numbers to one million this week by using place value cards, counters and playing a loop game to match the words and the digits and working with our learning partners.
Our aim has been to build new class communities and some of us have been talking about what makes us happy which we will be sharing with our linking school in Bristol.
Daily guided reading is a routine we have begun to establish which includes reading extracts from texts, practising our fluency and expression as well as answer questions.
We have started our learning around the question ‘Where is our place in space?’ which will develop our scientific knowledge around our solar system and as historians, we will research the space race and discuss space space tourism. To start off, we learnt about The Big Bang theory.
