Term One Week 6
The last full week of term and we can definitely tell that it is autumn with the darker mornings and evenings!
As musicians this week, Y5 and Y6 children composed their own sea shanties based on The Wellerman Song which we have been studying. In groups, they composed their own lyrics, added percussion to keep the beat and recorded their performances to share next week. They all worked brilliantly together!
In maths, we used place value grids to show our understanding of how we can multiply by 10,100 and 1000 by moving digits along the columns. It was great to use show me boards so that everyone could demonstrate their learning.
Linking with our history enquiry this term, we are designing and making stone age wallets out of faux leather. It is really making us focus on our sewing skills, in particular how to thread needles! We can’t wait to see how they turn out!
As writers, we noticed how authors use figurative language like similes to add description to their writing so that the reader can really visualise what is happening or what something looks like. We practised writing similes so that we can use them in our big piece of writing next week.
