Term Three Week 2
It has certainly been a busy first full week back with many children from Years 5 and 6 going to Birmingham on Tuesday to take part in the Young Voices singing celebration and with Adele from Reveal Projects carrying out workshops in the three classes discussing emotions and feelings around the theme of self- esteem and self-belief.
As readers this week, we have started reading our new class quality text entitled ‘Floodland’ by Marcus Sedgwick. It links perfectly with our enquiry which investigates how our world rages and takes place in the future when much of the east of England has been flooded due to climate change.
Using our reading comprehension skills (VIPERS), we made predictions from the blurb and front covers and made sure we justified them using evidence from the text.
As geographers, we have began our enquiry by finding out about the layers of the Earth. We have done this so we have the knowledge to help us understand how natural disasters occur.
