Term 3- Week 5
Week 5
We have had a lovely week in Year 2 this week.
This week as historians we moved to our next loop ‘How do our lives compare to the Victorians?’. We looked at toys and sch0ol now and then and sorted them in a Venn diagram. We learnt that some things are the same!
We continued reading Oliver Twist this week and discussed what it must have been feeling like after leaving the workhouse. We finished off our diary entry and edited them to ensure we had included; what we had been doing, what we are going to do and our thoughts and feelings. In SPAG we learnt about apostrophes and practiced rewriting sentences to include them.
As mathematicians, we started looking at division by sharing. We started with sharing cubes into different groups and used bar models to help us understand.
As scientists we looked at insulators and conductors. We discussed what they were and then predicted which materials would be insulators and which would be conductors. We tested it and recorded our results. Then we thought about what surprised us.
In PE this week, Pluto class continued our football skills practice and played a point scoring game. We had to pass the ball to each player before passing into the score zone to gain a point. We also did some balancing and moving on lines and low beams.
We had our second running club this week and some children ran 1.5 miles without stopping (15 laps of the track!). We wonder how many miles we will have ran by the end of the month.
In Art this week we continued our mono-printing focus. After designing and making our stamps last week, we used them to print this week. They look really effective and we thoroughly enjoyed it!
Last week was National bird watching week and we loved being on the field with our binoculars! We spotted lots of birds on the sheet and tallied up what we saw so the results can be collated.
