Term 2 Week 4
We’ve tried something new this week!
Christmas is fast approaching and Year 2 will be holding a carol concert at St Nicholas’s Church by the park on Thursday 8th December at 2pm. In the meantime, if you would like to practice any songs with you children the links are below. We will be practicing them in school so please don’t worry.
Some of the words are different please go with the ones that are on the lyric sheet.

If any families can help walk the children to and from the church, either in the morning for the rehearsal or for the afternoon performance, please let us know.
On Tuesday we had the exciting opportunity to take part in a target practice festival with Somerset sports. All children in Year 2 took part in 5 activities and will be placed into a league table along with other schools.
Pluto Class this week have also been practicing their gymnastic skills and have used lots of different equipment. Looks like they’ve had great fun!
As writers this week we have been creating our own constellations and the stories behind them. We have researched and read lots of different myths and stories so we could create our own. We even acted out some of our stories to help our imaginations. We will be finishing them next week and we cannot wait to share them with you all.
In maths we have been learning to count in 2’s, 5’s, 10’s and even 3’s. We have enjoyed using number lines and hundred squares to help us find our answers.
As scientists we have found out how much we have already learnt about the moon and the earth. We now understand that the sun is the centre of our solar system and the moon orbits (moves) around the sun. It takes the earth 1 day (24 hours) to orbit the sun. Whilst this is happening the moon orbits the earth.
Finishing off our enquiry question, ‘Where in the world are we’, this week we have b=continued to compare our local area to Shanghai. This week Year 2 were able to find similarities and differences by using a venn diagram.
