Term 1 Week 4
We have now established our daily routines in the classroom and becoming more independent.
As scientists, we have continued to learn about states of matter. This week we have been thinking about solids, liquids and gases and the differences between them. Solids, can change shape but keep the same volume, Liquids can be poured and take the space of the container they are in and a gas fills the space, they don’t keep their shape or volume. We tried to hold our breath in our hands, tried to hold water and squashed a solid before returning to to it’s original shape. We then sorted items into solids, liquids and gases.

As writers, we have continued to enjoy and produce work based on ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch’. This week we have been thinking more in depth about the characters in the text. We started the week by freeze framing scenarios and what characters are thinking and feeling and we finished the week with using expanded noun phrases to describe.

As readers, we shared a love of reading this week. We have been reading for pleasure to each other focusing on tone and volume when reading and asking questions to the reader if we are listening.

As athletes, we have been focusing on footwork and co-ordination. We have been learning skills to change direction quickly using the available space. We needed to look out for other children and plan our routes and speed.
