Term 1- Week 5
Week 5
Pluto and Jupiter class have had another lovely week in Year 2.
In our project ‘Where in the world are we’, we have been learning about Uphill and Weston and all of the wonderful geographical features we have here. First, we went on a virtual walk of Uphill and recorded the different types of geographical features we could see. We then discussed what there is to do, see and eat in Weston. This is in preparation to write a non-chronological report about Weston next week in English.
In maths this week we have been continuing place value. We have been comparing numbers in different ways using greater and less than symbols. We have done this with objects/resources and numbers as well.
In science we are concentrating on solids and this week have been measuring them. We discussed what both length and mass meant before then using this knowledge to weigh different solids. We recorded our results and then identified the shortest, longest, lightest and heaviest.
This week at cricket we had some more bowling practice (and it didn’t rain this time!). We had to remember to keep our arm straight as we bowled. We scored points for getting the ball to bounce in the cones and an extra one if it hit the stumps!
We have also designed our very own Christmas cards that will be sent home for ordering. We looked at winter pictures and listen to Christmas music to inspire our drawings!
