Term 2 Week 1
Week 1 – Welcome Back!
Year 2 have had a busy week this week after our half term.
In maths we have been learning all about adding numbers together using our number bonds and related facts.
We have started looking at a new book in English this week called The Snail and the Whale written by Julia Donaldson. We have had a great week discussing our thoughts, feelings and opinions on the book alongside using our expanded noun purses to describe it. Towards the end of the week we had the opportunity to use our own ideas to persuade the snail to stay on the rock or go on the adventure with the whale.
In science this week we continued to explore liquids and we learnt the different ways we could measure them, using temperature and volume.
During project this week we learnt all about the different regions of England and which region we live in. We also looked at some features of our region, South West, like our major waterways and nearest cities. Ask us what we know about the regions in England.
In Jupiter Class we have had two lots of art this week. Our first was using our skills from last term with lines and shapes to draw a leaf which Pluto Class enjoyed too! Both classes tried extremely hard and produced some fantastic drawings. We also used chalk on Friday to create a picture of fireworks for the 5th November (bonfire night).
