Term 2 Week 1
Welcome Back!
This week we have had so much fun being back at school and we have done some fantastic learning.
If any families would like to come into Jupiter or Pluto class to be a ‘mystery reader’ this term, please email [email protected].
As Mathematicians we have been continuing to learn skills to help us add and subtract numbers easily. This week we focused on ‘bridging’ and finding the difference between two numbers.
In English we have started a new book. Even though it is a popular book read by most of our children we used our imaginations to think about what might happen in the story. After reading The Snail and the Whale we discussed what we liked, dislikes, any surprises and if it reminded us of any other books. There was lots of discussion about Julia Donaldson’s other books. We had the opportunity at the end of the week to persuade the snail to stay on the rock or go with the whale, sharing our own opinions too.
As Geographers we have looked at our weather a climate this week and were able to talk about how different our weather can be on a weekly basis.
As artists we continued our learning about colours and how we can add white to a colour to change its tone.
We are very excited that our science enquiry is new this term. We will be learning all about space and we have a very exciting visitor on Monday who will help us to understand as much as possible through practical activities.
In Pe this week Pluto class were focusing on their balancing skills.
