Term 2 Week 2

We have had a busy week in Year 2!

As computer scientists, we started the term learning about E-Safety. We thought about the statement ‘I can identify who can help me if something happens online without my consent’ We thought about Trusted adults and who they were and created a poster listing who would be able to help us if we were ever worried about things that may happen online.

As scientists, we have continued to learn about states of matter. This week we completed 2 tests. 1 involved holding chocolate in our hands and one required us to hold raisins in our hands. We observed that the chocolate melted but the raisins didn’t. From these observations, we  understood that some objects like chocolate and water can change state but some like raisins can’t.

As mathematicians, we have been showing our fluency of number bonds to 20 and applying our knowledge to related facts. For example, if I know that 3 + 7 = 10 then I know that 13 + 7 = 20 or I know that 10 – 7 = 3.

As writers, we took part in conscience alley. One of us played the role of the Snail trying to decide whether he should sail around the world or not. We thought about reasons for and against using our knowledge from the book and knowledge of the world around us before making a decision.
