Term 2 Week 3
Year 2 have had a busy week!
Christmas is fast approaching and Year 2 will be holding a carol concert at St Nicholas’s Church by the park on Thursday 8th December at 2pm. In the meantime, if you would like to practice any songs with you children the links are below. We will be practicing them in school so please don’t worry.

A BIG thank you to those parents who supported us on our walk up the hill this week. Without you we wouldn’t be able to do all of these fantastic learning opportunities!
On Wednesday morning Year 2 took a walk up the hill to look at Weston Super Mare from a height and its surrounding areas. At the top of the hill we compared the view to the view in Shanghai as our enquiry question is ‘How do we compare to other places?’ We were able to spot all of the differences and even some similarities. The view was so clear from the top we could see for miles.
Fruit in science? As scientists we looked at the order of the planets in our solar system and compared the size of each planet. We found out that Jupiter is the largest planet.
As writers this week we have been learning all about poetry and creating our own poems influenced by our book The Snail and The Whale as this is a rhyming book. We have looked at a variety of poems this week and even performed one in our partners to help inspire us when creating our own.
We have continued learning about place value in maths and have used lots of different resources to show our understanding this week.
On Thursday we had positive notice day where all of the children in our school noticed something about the children in their class. It was so lovely to see and hear what kind things everyone had to say.
