Term 2 Week 3

We have had another busy week. Not only as it been Odd Socks Week, Kindness Week but of course on Friday, we celebrated Children in Need. We came into school wearing spots and yellow clothes. On Monday, we joined in with an online kindness assembly in which we thought about and discussed lots of different ways in which we can show kindness.

Our PSHE lessons have focused on diversity and what is bullying. During our lesson this week, we looked at different scenarios and decided if they were examples of bullying or not.

In English we have been learning about the four sentence types which are statements, questions, exclamations and commands. Also, we have been finding out the features of an informal letter in readiness for when we write in role as the snail from our story, ‘The Snail and the Whale’.

In geography, we have used maps to find out about the continents of the world. We have also been discovering more about how different places in the world have different temperatures.

Science has been fun this week as we carried out an experiment to find out if we could weigh gas. Carefully, we observed a bottle of fizzy drink and we realised that we could see all 3 states of matter. The bottle, label and lid were solids. The drink was a liquid and we noticed tiny bubbles which were the gas, carbon dioxide. We weighed two bottles before opening them. Next, we removed the lids and left them for 50 minutes. We then reweighed the bottles and noticed that they were lighter.

In R.E. with Mrs Owen we learnt about the Ten Commandments and made a booklet to help us remember them.

In P.E. we are working on gymnastics and we have been thinking of making shapes using points and patches.
