Term 2 Week 4

We have had a busy week in Year 2.

As computer scientists, we have been learning all about digital photography. We started by recalling our previous learning about I.T devices. We used our knowledge to sort devices that could take photographs and those that can’t. We then had a challenge to use the camera feature on an Ipad to take a series of photos including a close up of an object, a selfie, an action shot and a building. We needed to make sure that we asked permission before taking a photo of someone else. We then had a photo gallery which showcased our best images. We then learned all about the delete function to remove the photos from the device.

As geographers, we have been comparing the United Kingdom to Shanghai. We created fact files showing our research which we will use next week during our comparison study.

As mathematicians, we have been problem solving. We used our number knowledge to say whether the following statement is always, sometimes or never true.

‘When adding the same three numbers together, the total won’t change no matter what order you add the numbers up in.’

We proved that this is always true.

As citizens, we have been celebrating similarities and differences. We talked about how we are similar and how we are different to our class mates and that being different is just as good as being similar. We talked about what our world would be like if we were all the same and discussed our no outsiders approach to school life. We created similarity shields and differences shields and loved the discussions that we took part in in order to gather the information.
