Term 3 Week 1

Welcome back to a brand new term!

As writers, we will be starting our new book Oliver Twist. Stay tuned for our written pieces linked to the character of Oliver Twist later this term.

As scientists, we had great fun learning all about germs. We observed how germs can spread easily by using glitter as the germs on our hands as a result of a sneeze. We thought about the importance of hand washing and why we need to do a thorough job using soap.

We then completed a second observational experiment using pepper as the germs this time. This showed that water on its own won’t get rid of germs. When we placed a finger without soap into the mixture, nothing happened but when we put soap on our finger and placed this into the germ-y mixture, the germs quickly moved away.

This week we welcomed back Karen and continued to learn about the ‘5 ways of well being’. Our session this week was all about communication. How it makes us feel, how it might make others feel and how we can make people smile by checking in with them and saying something nice.
