Term 3- Week 3
Week 3
A busy and lovely week in year 2.
This week as historians we moved to our next loop ‘Who were the Victorians?’. We discussed who they were and then looked at the hierachy of different social classes in the Victorian times. We sorted facts about them in groups and then chose our favourite one to write down.
We started reading Oliver Twist this week and discussed what it must have been like living in the Victorian workhouse. We then described it using lots of powerful adjectives.
We have started our learning of multiplication and division by looking at equal groups and repeated addition. We recognised that repeated addition is the same as multiplication.
As scientists we continued our new topic of Electricity. We talked about what we need in a simple circuit and made one ourselves. We looked at pictures of different circuits and predicted whether they would work or not, before putting it to the test.
On Monday we practiced our balance and then applied our practice to a version of rock, paper, scissors. On Tuesday Pluto class continued our football skills practice and moved on to passing. We played through the gate to improve our accuracy.
In Art this week we have also been starting our new topic of printing, focusing on mono-printing. This week we used resources such as foil, cotton buds, paint and brushes. Next week we will be discovering different ways we can print.
