Term 4 Week 2
We have had a busy week in Year 2!
As writers and historians, we have been gathering facts about Florence Nightingale ready to use in our biographies when we write them next week.

As mathematicians, we have been learning to use and apply the divide symbol. We used cubes to group and share a set number but some of us spotted a pattern quickly realised that we could use our known multiplication facts to help us too!

As scientists, we learned that we all have a skeleton in order to help us move, to support us upright and to protect vital organs. We were told that bones are made up of tissue, fat and calcium and it is the calcium that makes our bones strong. We set up an experiment to test this theory. We started by trying to break a chicken bone (which we couldn’t!) we then covered them in vinegar (an acid) which will remove the calcium from the bones. Next week we are going to see if we can break the bones after the calcium has been removed to prove or disproof if it really is calcium that makes our bones strong.
