Term 4 Week 3

It’s trip week!

As historians, we visited the SS Great Britain in Bristol to learn more about what happened in the Victorian era. We learned all about Isambard Kingdom Brunel and explored his wonderful ship. We decided that we would much rather be a first class, rich passenger than a poor passenger! We were able to try on clothing, steer the ship and taken part in an immersive cinema experience through the eyes of Brunel.

As scientists, we continued to learn about our bodies and this week we focused on bones. We learned that there are 206 bones in the adult skeleton and used their common bone names to locate and identify the bones in our bodies. We learned that the thigh bone is the longest bone in our bodies and it is located at the top of the leg. We also found out that the smallest bone is in our ear. We had great fun learning a bone song to locate and identify bones and we were challenge to create a replica of the skeleton as a team.

As athletes, we have been working on our racket and ball skills. We enjoyed a variety of skill based activities in the sun this week. We needed to remember that hand eye co-ordination is very important in racket based sports.
