Term 4-Week 4

Another fun filled week of learning. We really have been so busy but it has been so exciting!

As historians this week we have learnt all about what impact Brunel has had on our local area. We have identified all of his inventions and creations from London to Bleadon. We are making a map to show all of our learning from this lesson.

Science-we finally got to reveal our results to our experiment. Our predictions were correct, the bone (in vinegar) without calcium bent and the bone with calcium was still strong and didn’t bend.

What a fantastic day we had on World Maths Day! Multiplication competition, mathematical jokes and plenty of questions to get us thinking. What would you rather be? A circle or a square? We have also finished learning about 1/2 and have moved onto learning about 1/4.

As mathematicians this week we have continued our learning all about fractions, identifying and making halves and quarters.

English-we have been planning and writing a recount about our wonderful trip to SS Great Britain. We planned our recount using a variety of ways, pictures and a recount s. It has been lovely to re-live our trip again.

As artists this week we have completed our printing. We’ve designed our prints and used rollers and paint. We constantly evaluated our artwork and tried to improve our prints each time.

Year 2 just love computing!! This week has been all about taking a photograph in portrait and landscape. We then discussed why the photo was our favourite and why.

In P.E, we have been exploring counter balances and working with a partner to help create different types of balance! We also have continued our learning with racket skills.

In history, we have been doing further research on Brunel’s designs and writing some facts about some of his designs we can find in our local area!
