Term 4 Week 4

This week we welcomed Miss Stenner to the Year 2 team.

Miss Stenner is part of the SCITT programme and will be based in Jupiter Class.

As scientists, we have been learning about what happens to the food that we eat. We learned that our teeth break down food into pieces that we can swallow. Saliva helps the food travel down the oesophagus (we loved this word!) and into the stomach. Once in the stomach, it can stay there for up to 4 hours before continuing its journey down the digestive system. We created our own models to show this journey happening. We noticed that once the food was in our stomachs, it turned into a liquid.

As athletes, we have been practising our ball skills. We have been learning how to control the ball using different parts of the body and then paired up to see if we could work together to stop the ball from falling.

As computer scientists, we have been learning about data and tally charts. We analysed some data in picture form and from this, created a tally chart and answered some questions. Next week, we will use the I-pads to present this data in electronic form.
