Term 4- Week 4
Week 4
What a lovely week!
This week as historians we discussed all the fantastic things that we learnt and saw at the SS Great Britain. We then learnt about other differences that Brunel made to our local area. This included the design and build of the Great Weston Railway, the Suspension bridge, Box tunnel and Devil’s bridge in Bleadon. We then imagined we were a passenger on the train from Paddington Station in London to Temple Meads in Bristol and told our reader all of the fascinating things we saw that Brunel had created.
In English this week, after learning about the Thames tunnel, we imagined what it was like for Brunel when the tunnel collapsed. We thought about what he would be feeling and thinking and what he could have seen, smelt and heard. We then created freeze frames in groups to show those feelings.
As mathematicians, we started our topic on shape. We began by recapping recognising shapes and went on a 2D and 3D shape hunt! We then labelled shapes and answered some reasoning questions.

This term our science project is the human body and health. This week our science was learning about vaccinations and why they are important. We discussed how they work and why they are so vital, linking it to COVID and how much the vaccinations have helped.
Pluto class continued gymnastics this week and progressed into some really tricky balances. We still focused on keeping our movements controlled and slow and did brilliantly. We will move on to using small apparatus soon. In our second PE lesson we focused on ball skills with our hands and practiced different accuracy skills with underarm throwing and catching.
